Nordplus project "Ecological Things" activities in Finland
On March 19 -24, 2023 the project activities were held in Raahe, Sweden. The 19th was the travelling day from early morning to late evening, changing many means of transport. On the 20th there was a walk in the old town of Raahe to learn the history of Raahe, its unique architecture and many stories about ghosts who live in the town. After a walk through the snowy streets the Mediakeskus Lybecker school was visited. At this vacational school the project participants got to know graphic design, art, photography, DJing, computer game designer professions. Also, everyone made eco-friendly paper from used textiles. After the sun set down, everyone was walking on the frozen Baltic Sea and waiting for Northern Lights to appear. Unfortunately, it did not appear, but we saw it in the "Science Centre". On the 21st participants visited waste sorting centre in Oulu city and learned what happens to waste and garbage after throwing it away. The waste sorting centre has a shop. In this way, many thrown things can be reused and have a second chance. Another visited object was Tietomma "Science Centre". There the participants got to know Finnish animals, plants, natural phenomena and also saw Oulu panorama. On the 22nd another part of the school was visited where you can learn the professions of cook, builder, engineer, auto mechanics, listened to a lecturer about steel production in Raah and went to Raahe museums. The day ended with a bowling competition. On the 23rd the participants visited Ruuki ( the third part of the school – Ruukin Maaseutuopisto) where ecological agriculture is taught. Everyone had a chance to ride horses, try the fun sleeding and enjoy dancing in the disco.
