Project ''Ecological Issues'' summary

Project ''Ecological Issues'' is a class mobility project involving four schools: Seduva Gymnasium in Lithuania (the coordinator), Kohtla-Jarve Maleva Basic School in Estonia, Brahe in Finland and Daugavpils Trade Vocational Secondary School in Latvia. It will last for two years. The students in all four schools study ecology and are involved in local projects. Participating in this project they will have a practical opportunity at an international level to exchange and compare their experience and become a more ecologically minded generation gaining knowledge not only about the benefits nature provides but also about sustainable resources management because sustainable development is the basis of our welfare. Also, they will know how rationally ecological problems are dealt in the partners´ countries and what influences that (traditions in the family, country's ecological policy, fines, education at school), how sewage systems work, how 3 Rs (reusage, recycling and reduction) are dealt when visiting universities, science centres/companies, museums, treatment /shopping centres, landfills, compost pitches, recycling enterprises, ecological farms, recreational parks, forests, rivers, lakes, swamps, having outdoor seminars, cooking healthy food, making things from recycled materials at workshops, meeting ecologists. The project activities will formulate the right skills in recycling. The activities will be integrated into school subjects (natural and social sciences, technology, arts, literature, health care). The students will do surveys, compare the results with the partner schools and write reports and the results will be presented in school posters, on webpages, in the media This information will attract students´ attention not actively involved and make them reconsider ecological issues.
